Diabetes Care & Monitoring Plan
A specialty care plan for families managing diabetes at home, centered on medication reminders, meal support, and close observation, with clinical tasks like glucose testing and insulin handled by medical professionals.
Diabetes management touches nearly every part of the day: meals, medication timing, activity, and staying alert to how someone is feeling. A Golden Rule caregiver provides consistent, non-medical support around that routine, helping meals stay on track and watching closely for the warning signs of high or low blood sugar, then reporting them right away.
IMPORTANT: NON-MEDICAL SUPPORT
Golden Rule Home Care provides non-medical support only. Our caregivers do not perform blood glucose testing, administer insulin, or make any medication or treatment decisions, and we do not diagnose or manage diabetes as a medical condition. What caregivers can do is provide medication reminders, support diabetes-friendly meal preparation, and closely observe and promptly report signs of concern, such as confusion, shakiness, or unusual fatigue, to your family and your loved one’s medical team.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Can a caregiver check blood sugar or give insulin?
No. Caregivers do not perform blood glucose testing or administer insulin. Those are clinical tasks that stay with your loved one’s medical provider, a home health nurse, or the family. Caregivers support the routine around diabetes management and report any concerning symptoms.
What symptoms would a caregiver report right away?
Signs like confusion, shakiness, excessive sweating, unusual fatigue, or any sudden change in how your loved one seems are reported promptly to family and, when appropriate, the medical team, since these can signal a blood sugar emergency.
