SPECIALTY CARE PLANS · Respiratory Condition Support

Respiratory & COPD Care Plan

A specialty care plan for families managing COPD or another respiratory condition at home, focused on daily support, symptom observation, and fast reporting rather than clinical respiratory treatment.

Living with COPD or another respiratory condition means paying close attention to breathing, exertion, and energy levels every day. A Golden Rule caregiver provides steady, non-medical support around that reality: helping with daily tasks that leave someone breathless, watching for warning signs, and reporting them promptly so your loved one’s medical team can respond quickly.

IMPORTANT: NON-MEDICAL SUPPORT

Golden Rule Home Care provides non-medical support only. Our caregivers do not manage oxygen equipment, administer respiratory treatments, or provide clinical respiratory therapy, and we do not diagnose or treat any condition. What caregivers can do is remind your loved one about medication timing, help conserve energy during daily tasks, and observe and promptly report changes in breathing, color, or activity tolerance to your family and medical team.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Can a caregiver manage oxygen equipment or give breathing treatments?

No. Caregivers do not manage oxygen equipment, administer respiratory treatments, or perform any clinical respiratory therapy. That care stays with your loved one’s medical team. Caregivers focus on daily support, medication reminders, and reporting changes.

What if a caregiver notices breathing has gotten worse?

The caregiver reports any change in breathing, color, or activity tolerance to your family and, when appropriate, your loved one’s care team right away, rather than waiting for a scheduled visit.
